Important Signs That Your Body Is Too Acidic And How To Deal with It

Too much of anything is harmful for our bodies. So it is obvious that when our bodies are acidic beyond a certain level, it becomes an unhealthy body. Acidic environments are a boon for bacteria, illness, and yeast. The body also uses minerals present in our bones and vital organs to get rid of acid and expel it.

Thereby, the body might lose large portions of these vital minerals such as calcium, sodium, magnesium, and potassium. Their absence might go undetected before the body cannot handle it any further which leads to acidosis.

So, to help our bodies get rid of all this acid generation, a healthy intake of alkaline food is a must.

Unbalanced acid in the body a.k.a acidosis can cause health problems such as:
  • Sensitive and inflamed gums, cavities
  • Deficient immune system
  • Stiff neck, backache
  • Problems in breathing, coughing, other respiratory issues
  • Increased yeast, fungal growth
  • Blood vessel blockage, oxygen reduction
  • Faster heart-beat, arrhythmias, heart ailments
  • Gaining weight, insulin inhibition, obesity
  • Kidney and bladder infections
  • Free radical damage acceleration
  • Aging prematurely
  • Stomach problems, vomiting, diarrhea
  • Bone density loss, osteoporosis, fractures in hips
  • Drowsiness, loss of focus, headaches
  • Acne, skin problems, allergies
Understanding The Level of your pH is important
You should start by getting information about your pH because it lets you get an accurate insight into the level of acidification present in the body. A pH reading in the range of 6.75-7.25 is considered as a healthy pH reading.

Acidity cannot be distinguished based solely on taste alone
The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of acidic food is lemon. But the interesting fact is that lemon becomes alkaline by the time it reaches our stomach. The acid contained in lemon gets oxidized into water and oxygen. That helps the body avoid high acidic concentration.

Foods which contain calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium, and sodium help our body alkalize acids. Hence, they’re considered to be alkaline forming foods. Both alkalinity and acidity are common factors in most foods. The ones with higher alkaline minerals are usually considered alkaline and vice versa.

The human body has thresholds
A balanced diet is important because the body cannot compensate for all the additional acidic minerals that we consume. A lot of diseases and sickness are the end results of our bodies’ efforts to balance out the acidic environment in our systems.

Eating too much acid forming food such as meats, dairy, grains and sugar will lead to our bodies becoming acidic. While, on the contrary, eating too much alkaline-inducing foods such as greens, sea vegetables and fruits will lead to high alkaline concentration in the system. Harmony of foods is essential.

You can improve alkaline concentration by:
  • Regular pH checks to stay informed
  • Healthy intake of water and alkaline water whenever possible
  • Reducing acidic food intake
  • Having a healthy green salad instead or regular wheat or grains
  • Replacing flour based wraps with collard greens and lettuce leaves
  • Reduction in the intake of processed foods
  • Replace soda, sugar, and coffee with herbal coffee, green drinks and herbal tea
  • Switching dairy with coconut, almond, or soy milk
  • Drinking green juices and smoothies
Eating Right is Valuable
Eating right and keeping the right pH levels might seem like an uphill task, but once you start to feel the benefits, the reward will definitely be worth it. You will start feeling like you have more energy and the whole index of your health will definitely get better.

Eating has obvious direct benefits on our health as well as harmful repercussions. So eat right, exercise, and life will be happy and hearty.

Got a Growling Or Grumbling Stomach? This Is What It Means

This is what a growling, grumbling or bubbling stomach tells you

You’ve plopped down on the sofa after dinner to relax and then you hear all kinds of strange noises coming from your stomach. Grumbling, growling, bubbling… What do these noises mean? There are many different things that might be causing this noise.

That’s why it’s important to learn to recognise the kind of noise your stomach is making, where it comes from and what the reason behind it is. We’ll explain it all in this article!

Your stomach can make an awful lot of noise sometimes.

1. Gasses
The most common and obvious cause behind abdominal noises is the movement of abdominal and/or stomach gasses. Your digestive system (meaning your stomach and bowel) shrinks and expands. Because of this, the gasses that are in there become stuck, which causes them to make a sound. That’s the grumbling that you hear. The contents of your bowel, part of which is gas, is propelled forward by the small intestine and this movement can cause bubbling or grumbling noises. You’re basically passing wind, but inside your body.

2. Troubled tummy
Healthy, normal digestion shouldn’t make any sounds. Is your belly making strange noises after dinner every single day? Then it might very well be that you regularly eat something you’re actually allergic too, or that you have digestion problems. Take a good look at your diet and scratch what you think might be the culprit from your dishes. Your troubled tummy might also be a sign that you have a food allergy or gluten or lactose intolerance. Do you never have a noisy stomach, but you do now? You might have eaten something that has passed its expiration date, or you might have diarrhoea or the stomach flu.

3. Growling stomach
Did you eat and drink enough today? A growling stomach can be a clear sign of hunger. If you eat at regular times, your stomach starts to prepare beforehand by producing stomach juices and contracting certain muscles. Gobbling up your food can also cause a growling stomach. By not chewing on your food properly, a lot of air is trapped in your stomach, which can cause it to start growling.

4. Not enough fibres
If you have a fibre deficit in your diet, you get a bubbling stomach. This might be because your diet is too one-sided and you don’t eat enough fibres because of this. Excesses of fat, protein or carbs (sugar) can cause it as well.

5. Gastro-intestinal problems
There are many more things that can cause a bubbling tummy. A few examples are irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), obstipation or Crohn’s disease. Does the bubbling really come from your stomach? Then you might be dealing with a stomach ulcer, a hiatal hernia or a shortage of stomach acid.

6. Sloshing stomach and bowel
If you have drunk too much water or eaten too much soup, you can hear sloshing inside your stomach; this is all the liquid in there. You can also hear sloshing in your abdomen. The liquid doesn’t get removed from the stool until the large intestine, which means your stool is still quite liquidy on the way there, hence the sloshing.

Tips
So, what can you do about a noisy stomach or bowel? If it’s caused by an innocent reason, like gas or moisture, we have a few tips for you. Leave the sugar and simple carbohydrates for what they are for a while and try to solve the problem with probiotics. Eat plenty of fibres and try to avoid processed foods.

Eat small meals at set times. Yoghurt, buttermilk and kefir can help calm down your bowel. If you’re really having a lot of problems with noise from your belly, it’s best to visit a doctor to rule out any serious causes.

Wrap Your Feet In Aluminum Foil And a Few Hours Later You Will Have This Result! This is Genius

Try wrapping your feet in aluminum foil!
We’re sure you’re familiar with aluminum foil. Many people use it in the kitchen, but not many would think of using it to wrap body parts with. It may sound like a strange idea, but it turns out that aluminum foil is a great product for your everyday ailments.

Benefits
Wrapping body parts in aluminum foil can bring many advantages and benefits. For instance, it is great for fatigue, it alleviates painful joints, it softens the pain from burns and it can even be used to help cure you of a cold.

Aluminium foil has an amazing amount of useful applications you might never have thought of before.

Need a funnel but don’t have one around the house? Not to worry; by folding a bit of aluminium foil you can very easily make yourself a funnel that won’t leak. Ideal!

If you need to iron some clothes but don’t have enough time to do it, aluminium foil is the ideal solution. Fold an item of clothing around a piece of foil and then iron it. Because of the foil, the item of clothing will be ironed at both sides at the same time. You’ll be done much more quickly!

Blunt scissors? Not a problem. If you use aluminium foil the scissors will be nice and sharp before you know it. All you need to do is take a piece of foil and then cut it into tinier pieces. That’s all!

Static cling on clothes can be very frustrating. Luckily, there’s a quick and simple trick to fix this. All you need to do is scrunch up some foil into a ball and use it to rub the clothes with. The static cling will be gone.

Do you have a weak WiFi signal at your home? Make a screen out of aluminium foil and put it against a wall in the spot you want to increase the signal. The signal will be increased in the direction of the screen.

Back to the feet! On the next page you’ll read the instruction on how to use aluminium foil when you’re suffering from a cold or from fatigue.

Nasty cold
Rid yourself of that nasty cold in record time! How? Take five to seven sheets of aluminum foil and wrap them around your feet. Leave them on for about an hour. Then take off the foil for about an hour to let your feet breathe and then rewrap your feet again. Repeat this process every evening. After two nights, you will notice the difference already!

Pain
Wrapping your joints in a sheet of aluminum foil can also help against pain. You can use a bandage to keep the foil in its place properly. Wrap the foil around the painful joint before you go to bed and keep it in place during the night. Do this for about 7 nights.

Fatigue
Our last tip is great for when you are suffering from fatigue. In that case, put a few sheets of aluminum foil in the freezer for two to four hours. Then put the sheets on your face, in particular on your eyelids and cheeks. Get comfortable and you will start to feel the relaxing effect of the aluminum foil. We haven’t tried this ourselves yet, but we hear from many people that it really works! So, definitely worth trying.

But while aluminum foil can help to ease everyday aches and pains, it should never take the place of professional medical attention. Be sure to consult with a physician before trying any home remedies, and continue to take any prescriptions your doctor recommends.

These Are The Possible Causes Of Dry Eyes And Here’s How To Fix it

Having dry eyes is a very common problem

Teary and red eyes, blurry vision and an itch that makes you want to rub your eyes all the time. These are just a couple of symptoms of dry eyes. Unfortunately, quite a lot of people suffer from this. Eye expert Viviane de Vries explains what the causes are and, more importantly, what you can do about it.

Dry eyes are very annoying.

Tears
“Your eyes become dry when they don’t produce enough tears or if these tears are of insufficient quality,” the optometrist explains. “If you want to prevent or fix it, the first thing you need to do is discover the cause. Depending on the cause, dry eyes can be accompanied by other problems like itchiness, a burning sensation, tears and redness.”

Causes
According to De Vries, there are multiple causes, from air pollution to working in a space with air conditioning. Dry eyes can also be caused by staring at a computer screen for extended periods of time. When you’re focused on your work, you often forget to blink often enough. The same goes for watching television.

As we’re getting older, the quality of our tear film becomes less as well. Besides this, women suffer from dry eyes more often than men because hormones play a big role too. Especially during and after the menopause nearly every woman has problems with this at some point. Medication or certain illnesses can have an influence as well.

Tips
Although some things, like air pollution, can’t really be changed or avoided, there are a couple of things you can do to try and fix your dry eyes. De Vries gives us some tips:
  • Try to cut in moments during the day when you let your eyes rest, especially if you spend your time working on a computer. Try to remember the twenty-twenty rule. After every twenty minutes you spend working on a computer, make sure you take twenty seconds to look away from your screen to a distance of twenty metres. During those twenty seconds, you can blink some more again so your tear film gets the chance to recover.
  • Make sure the humidity is as high as possible in dry, dusty rooms. Avoid air conditioning and heaters as these dehydrate spaces as well as your eyes.
  • Blink as often and as well as possible. Generally speaking, you blink once every four seconds, which means about fifteen times per minute. Make sure your upper eyelid touches the bottom one when you blink.
  • Wear sunglasses. Being blinded by light can have a negative effect on your eyes and dries them out as well.
  • When you can’t take away the cause of your dry eyes, the best thing to do is to use eye drops. These days, you can also find good homoeopathic substances at the drugstore. Do you still have dry eyes after this? Then it’s wise to consult an eye doctor.

This Is What Your Period Is Saying About Your Health

Women, what comes along about once a month, leaves us feeling sick and bloated, and is an absolute pain, in more ways than one?

That’s right. Our periods.
They are a necessary and normal bodily function in women, yet, we still consider them to be extremely taboo to talk about. Instead of the dreaded word “period,” we instead have a whole list of interesting nicknames for that time of the month. Shark week, Aunt Flo and riding the crimson wave are just a few.

However, women need to understand that their periods may be telling them something about their health. Most people don’t like to talk about it, and this can cause minor to serious health issues to go unnoticed. I’ve had friends who have had serious issues associated with their menstruation when they were in high school, and they didn’t know there was a problem until they were in college.

Taking notice of your flow and other period symptoms can help you understand a lot about your health, and to be better informed when talking to a health care professional.

So, This is What Your Period is Saying About Your Health!

Color and Flow
According to Dr. Alisa Vitti, holistic health counselor and functional nutritionist, it is possible to describe most period colors in three different ways: mashed frozen blueberries, strawberry jam, and cranberry juice. The color of period blood can reveal a lot about hormonal health.

Periods that are similar in texture and color to frozen blueberries may be an indicator of high estrogen levels. This would also cause a heavier cycle than normal because higher estrogen levels mean the uterus lining could be thicker than normal.

Those who shed a lighter color, similar to strawberry jam, have the opposite problem. This may be a sign that estrogen levels are low. In this case, period flow can be patchy and is often late because less estrogen means a thinner lining. It should also be noted that a light flow is alsoassociated with birth control use for some women.

The perfect color, according to Dr. Vitti, is a nice, saturated red color like cranberry juice. In this case, flow will usually start and end on time and will not become too heavy.

Spotting
If you are bleeding a little in between periods, it’s called spotting. This could mean something is wrong, so those who experience spotting should consult with a medical professional.

Here are some major causes of spotting:

Hormonal Imbalance – Spotting happens when progesterone and estrogen are out of balance. Dysfunctional ovaries, thyroid problems, and birth control methods can affect this balance.

Infection – Any infection, brought on by an STD or not, can cause spotting between periods.

Cancer – Cancer of the cervix, vagina, uterus, or ovaries can cause spotting. But this is rare.

Stress – Extreme stress can also cause a person to experience spotting.

Period PainMost will experience some amount of pain during their period, but severe pain that doesn’t go away needs to be mentioned to a healthcare professional. The correct term for menstrual cramps is dysmenorrhea, and it happens to about half of the female population. The cause of dysmenorrhea is excessive amounts of prostaglandin – the hormone involved with inflammation and pain. Unfortunately, this is common.

What isn’t common is severe and disabling cramps that last for more than two days. This is a sign of endometriosis.Endometriosis is where the uterine lining is growing outside the uterus, normally in the pelvic area, instead of inside. When the lining is shed, it has nowhere to go. This is what causes the severe pain and cramps. About 10% of women suffer from endometriosis.Keep this information in mind the next time Aunt Flo comes into town to visit. It may help you or someone you know!

10 Scientific Discoveries Everyone Who Wants To Be Healthy Needs To Know

If we want to have a long and healthy life, we have to be aware of the latest scientific research in medicine. That’s because the result of such studies can greatly change our knowledge of medicine. For example, experts have recently come to the conclusion that sometimes it’s more healthy to sit with a bent back than with a straight one. Additionally, working at a nail salon is just as harmful as working at an oil refinery.

1. An appendectomy can lead to Parkinson’s disease.
Experts at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland have analyzed the medical database that has information about 62.2 million clients. It was discovered that people who had an appendectomy had Parkinson’s disease 3 times more often. Experts don’t know the exact connection between the disease and the surgery but it is obvious that there is some kind of link between them.

2. Working at a nail salon is just about as harmful as working at an oil refinery.
Scientists at the University of Colorado spent 1.5 years studying the air quality of 6 different nail salons in Colorado state. They measured the concentration levels of formaldehyde as well as benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene. It was found that in all 6 nail salons, the concentration level of these toxic elements was many times higher than normal which increases the risk of developing nasopharynx cancer, leukemia, and other types of cancer.

In addition, a questionnaire showed that most employees of these salons suffer from skin and eye irritation as well as headaches. Experts calculated that if a person breathes in this air for 20 years, the risk of developing cancer is 100 times higher and working in a nail salon is the same as working in a car garage or an oil refinery.

At the same time, researchers pointed out that clients have nothing to worry about unless they have asthma or an allergy.

3. Blue LED-light is dangerous for the eyes.
French experts from the National Agency on Food, Environment, and Labor Control found out that the blue light emitted by LED-lamps and other devices has a negative impact on people’s health. Specifically, it leads to a disruption of circadian rhythms and has a negative influence on the eye’s retina. Children are especially in danger because the lens in their eyes is not completely formed yet. Experts recommend using lamps that emit a warm light.

4. One’s eating schedule is almost as important as their daily schedule.
Doctors are aware of the fact that working at night leads to chronic disruption of circadian rhythms which significantly increases the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and type II diabetes. Experts at Cambridge and Manchester Universities found out that even one’s food schedule can lead to the same problems: this happens when a person eats at an unusual time for them. Experiments showed that if a person eats like this, then the circadian rhythms are wrong and the body doesn’t see the difference between day and night which takes a huge toll on their health.

The author of the study says that people who work at night should try to eat in the daylight.

5. Sunscreen turned out to be more dangerous than we previously thought.
A group of experts at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted a small clinical trial with 24 volunteers (both men and women). For several days, they put on sun protection lotion, spray, or cream 4 times a day. One week later, all the participants had their blood tested. The results were not very good: it turned out that using these sun protection products led to a significant increase of the active ingredients in the blood. In some cases, it was 400 times higher than the safe level.

At the same time, scientists say that we shouldn’t give up on using sun protection products because the risk of developing skin cancer with them is lower than without them.

6. Vapes slowly kill the human heart.
Doctors from the University of Massachusetts Medical School conducted a study and proved that the flavors in vapes are harmful to the cells in the vessels of the heart. As it turns out, the flavors cause inflammation and even the death of certain heart cells. 6 flavors were tested and the most dangerous one was the cinnamon-flavored liquid.

By the way, last year, experts also found a link between vapes and a higher risk of having a heart attack.

7. You shouldn’t always sit with a straight back
It’s believed that when sitting, the back should be straight. But recent studies show that this idea is wrong. For a long time, it’s been common knowledge that if a person has a bent back while sitting, the load on the spinal cord is harmful. But physiotherapists at the University Hospital of North Tees in Stockton-on-Tees carried out their own investigation and came to the conclusion that a slightly bent back can be good for those who have lower back pain.

The study also showed that slouching relieves pressure in the back and legs while sitting.

8. Air humidifiers protect us from getting the flu.
Scientists from Yale University found out that air humidity influences the body’s response to the flu virus. Experts conducted an experiment with genetically modified mice that respond to the flu virus exactly like humans. The animals that were in the rooms with the same temperature but different humidity were exposed to the flu virus А (H1N1). The organisms that were in the places with lower humidity were more prone to catching the virus. It’s also worth noting that in the same conditions, the regeneration in the airways slowed down after getting the infection.

Scientists are convinced that in order to decrease the risk of catching the flu, you should use air humidifiers. And not just at home, but everywhere else as well.

9. Cracking your neck is very dangerous for your health.
Doctors warn us that if you crack your neck a lot when trying to stretch it, you can have really serious health issues. Doctors refer to the case that recently happened to 28-year-old Josh Hader. He had a sore neck and in order to improve the situation, he started stretching his neck and tilting it from side to side. Suddenly, he heard a pop and Josh felt the left side of his body completely freeze. He also felt weak, began hiccuping non-stop, and had problems with coordination and eyesight.

In the hospital, doctors discovered that he had a stroke: when stretching his neck, John tore the arteries that went to the bone of the neck where the neck joins the skull at the base of the brain. He spent several days in the hospital. Today, he is at home but still has some problems like impaired coordination. It’s also interesting that he kept hiccuping for 2 weeks after he had the stroke.

10. Workouts are more effective in the morning.
A new study led by researchers from the University of California proved that doing sports in the morning is far more effective than in the evening. As it turns out, in the morning, our cells consume way more oxygen and the metabolic processes are activated in the body. So, exercising in the morning is better for your metabolism, thus, it’s more effective.

Include more antioxidant-rich foods like berries, red beans, prunes,  green tea, artichokes, cabbage, apple, bell peppers, spinach, etc. will help to have healthy and strong veins.

Follow some low salt diet and cit down your salt intake. Drink a lot of water, herbal teas and fruit juices to stay hydrated.

Include spicy foods by adding spices like black pepper and garlic which helps to break down a hard stuff around the varicose veins that is called fibrin.

This Feet Trick Will Reset Your Metabolism And Your Body’s Circulation For The Next Day

We often fuss about the skin on our face if there is acne. Or we lament the loss of hair which is natural due to aging. But which part of our body do we neglect the most? Yes, our feet, even though they carry us around all day! We torture our feet with uncomfortable shoes in the name of style and do not bother to take care of them. Your toes can support half your body weight. Isn’t that amazing? No wonder ballet dancers can glide with élan! They know the secret foot story surely.

Feet Reflexology Is The Trick
This is a healing process specific to the Chinese medicine tradition of the past. Foot reflexology has proved to be beneficial to many. Applying pressure to particular areas on the feet will cure some physical illnesses. This special massage will not only give strength to your feet but also your whole body. Some researchers have concluded that foot reflexology can improve your sleeping pattern, boost your metabolism, reduce headaches, keep blood pressure under control, and improve blood circulation.

The Benefits
The fact that you can do it all by yourself, without anyone’s assistance, makes it all the more interesting. You can treat yourself to this massage at the end of a tiring day and increase your blood circulation the next day.

Increase in blood flow promotes cell growth and helps the organs to function smoothly. Even your skin becomes better and can fight off bacteria which it may come in contact with. Your heart rate adjusts itself when the heart pumps blood in full force. The heart muscles relax and blood pressure flows evenly. Good circulation results in improved brain functions and helps you focus. You will handle stressful situations better.

The Process
The key to this process is relaxation. Calm your mind with the help of meditation or soothing music and then proceed. You need to clean your feet by dipping it in lukewarm water for at least five minutes. Then put a half teaspoon of lavender, peppermint, or eucalyptus oil in your moisturizer. Use the mix for massaging your foot.

You need to start from the toes by releasing tension. Pull your toes gently and twist them. You will feel the knots untangle. Massaging the sole with firm pressure and paying attention to sore areas will be beneficial. Try the same technique on your other foot and put socks on. You will sleep peacefully as you will feel at ease. It takes just ten minutes to massage your feet and it will pay off once you get back to the grind the next day.

You need to find the specific reflex points for best results. It will come with practice and a little research. Just this massage won’t change your life completely. Wear shoes that will not sit tightly around your toes, wear only cotton socks and schedule pedicure appointments. The process of foot reflexology is going to be the most favorite 10 minutes of your day!

These 17 Warning Signs Show That Mold Is Hiding In Your Home And It Is Damaging Your Body

One of the most important sources of water waste are definitely water based utilities like leaking appliances and other water based utilities. Nowadays, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers as well as washing machines can all be connected to a water source because of their ice dispensers, water and wrinkle care features.

Our households are all full of these appliances, so the possibility for a leak becomes increased. Leaks can be very dangerous. They can cause great damage and induce hazardous conditions, like for example the appearance of mold.

What Is Household Mold?
It’s fungus mostly found inside and outside everywhere throughout the whole year. The best environment for it to grow is humid, damp and warm. It becomes multiplied with microscopic spores which travel through the air and then attach to different materials and structures.

Mold can be found in 100,000 different species and types. Some of them are harmless, but some of them can cause really serious health problems. The most common categories of mold that cause problems for our health are the allergenic molds. They are full of allergens which can cause various symptoms as well as allergies in humans.

Symptoms of Mold
People who spend time in damp environments indoors that are full of molds have symptoms like:
  1. Memory problems, brain fog, trouble with focus and executive function
  2. Fatigue, weakness, post-exercise malaise and fatigue
  3. Muscle cramping, aches, and pains, joint pain without inflammatory arthritis, persistent nerve pain, “ice pick” pain
  4. Numbness and tingling
  5. A headache
  6. Light sensitivity, red eyes, and/or blurred vision
  7. Sinus problems, cough, shortness of breath, air hunger, asthma-like symptoms
  8. Tremors
  9. Vertigo
  10. Persistent nerve pain
  11. Abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, appetite changes
  12. Metallic taste
  13. Weight gain despite sufficient effort (weight loss resistance)
  14. Night sweats or other problems with temperature regulation
  15. Excessive thirst
  16. Increased urination
  17. Static “shocks”
A small amount of mildew or mold can appear on shower walls or anywhere where there is water. It shows that there is a leak near that area.

If you notice mold around the area you live, near schools or where you work, you need to eliminate it so that you can improve the quality of your life as well as your health. Homeowners can remove small amounts of mold, but large amounts of mold should be eliminated with the help of specialists.

Don’t Forget To Deal With The Leak!
Still, the mold outbreak can only be prevented if you deal with the leak first.

Internally, all of the potential causes like tubes, pipes, water faucets, water valves, toilets and any household appliances are among the potential causes of a leak. You will need a professional plumber to locate to cause and treat it.

Here Are The Signs of Brain Aneurysm You Shouldn’t Ignore

Aneurysms are a weak and abnormal spot on a blood vessel in the brain that can cause bulging. They are usually a starting point for blood clots and embolization that can have a fatal outcome. Even when not deadly, aneurysms can leave a person severely disabled, which is why it’s important to recognize the early signs on time and prevent the problem before it gets serious.

The thing about aneurysms is that we often ignore the signs before it’s too late. One of the earliest signs of this possibly fatal condition are migraines. Although not automatically pointing to an aneurysm, headaches and migraines can be a sign of it.

Lee Broadway’s Story
Lee Broadway is a mother of four children who has been living with migraines since she was a child. Lee died recently from a brain aneurysm only two hours after doctors were sure there was nothing wrong with her. One night, Lee was having a splitting migraine and asked her husband Eric to take her to a hospital. The doctors checked on her, but couldn’t find anything wrong.

Only two hours later, she died on a surgery table during an aneurysm procedure. Lee lost too much blood during the surgery and died from complications just 5 days before her birthday. It’s another reminder that migraines are not too be taken lightly – if you’re suffering from them frequently, it’s best to get regular checkups to ensure there’s nothing wrong.

After Lee Broadway passed away, Dr. Howard A. Riina from the Langone Medical Center heard about her story and shared his opinion. Dr. Riina likens the pain caused by an aneurysm to that of a migraine. He says that they’re almost identical – during his career, many patients came reporting symptoms such as a migraine that feels like they’ve been hit by lightning. Sometimes, migraine sufferers experience visual disturbances, so they isolate themselves in quiet and dark places in order to subdue the symptoms. However, if that doesn’t help as well, it might be an aneurysm causing the problem, not a migraine.

The Main Symptoms of a Brain Aneurysm
The most common symptoms of aneurysms are a sudden and sharp headache, nausea, confusion, seeing double, and numbness which usually affects the left side of the face. Other symptoms can include drooping eyelids, vomiting, dilated pupils, pain above one eye only, and sensitivity to light.

Facts About Aneurysm You Surely Didn’t Know

They Are Pretty Rare
The good thing about aneurysms is that they’re rare. There are between 30,000 and 50,000 reported cases per year, with only a small group of patients dying from a ruptured aneurysm.

Unruptured Aneurysms Don’t Manifest Through Specific Symptoms
About 1-2% of reported aneurysm cases end with a ruptured blood vessel. In most cases, the person experienced no symptoms at all.

They Affect Millions of People Each Year
According to Dr. Riina, up to 10% of the world’s population is living with unruptured aneurysms. That’s roughly around 700 million people!

They are Triggered by Certain Habits and Conditions
Conditions such as Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and polycystic kidney disease are listed as some of the key factors that increase the risk of brain aneurysms. Habits such as smoking, drinking too much, and a diet rich in fat may also raise the risk of aneurysms.

Family History is a Major Indicator
Dr. Riina says that if you have someone from your family with a brain aneurysm, you must tell your doctor. Family history is a key indicator for brain aneurysms and can save your life if you mention it to your doctor.

These Subtle Signs And Symptoms Can Tell If Your Magnesium Levels Are Dangerously Low

As most of you probably know, magnesium is one of the most important minerals in the human body. It plays numerous roles in major organs in the body including the kidneys and heart and performs over 300 important functions. Lack of magnesium can be quite a big problem which manifests through fatigue, weakness, abnormal heart rhythm, eye twitches, muscle spasms and other problems.

Magnesium deficiency is diagnosed via blood tests, but with only 1% of the mineral distributed through the blood, magnesium blood tests are not so accurate. Most of the mineral is present in our organs and bones where it performs numerous biological functions. However, it’s quite possible to be deficient in magnesium without being aware of it, which is why lack of magnesium is known as the “invisible deficiency”.

According to estimates, 80% of the American population is not getting enough magnesium, with only 25% of American adults getting the RDA of 400-420 mg. for men and 310-320 mg. for women. Even worse, consuming this amount is just enough to correct the lack of the mineral, not raise its levels like it should.

Lack Of Magnesium Can Cause 22 Medical Conditions!

Although people consider it a mineral for our heart and bones, magnesium is much more than that. Studies have found that there are nearly 4000 magnesium-binding sites in human proteins, so the mineral’s health value may have been miscalculated. Magnesium is important for over 300 enzymes in our body and can easily detoxify it, preventing potential damage from heavy metals, chemicals and toxins.

Magnesium is also important for the proper function of our muscles, joints and bones, assists in the digestion of proteins, fats and carbs, helps the body create energy, serves as a building block for RNA and DNA and acts as a precursor to serotonin.

Many experts have studied magnesium in the past decade. In her latest book The Magnesium Miracle, Dr. Carolyn Dean concludes that magnesium can trigger more than 20 medical conditions and all of this has been scientifically proven.

Lack of the mineral in your body can lead to:
  • anxiety
  • bowel problems
  • asthma
  • blood clots
  • depression
  • heart disease
  • high blood pressure
  • kidney disease
  • hypoglycemia
  • liver disease
  • nerve problems
  • tooth decay
The earliest signs of magnesium deficiency include headaches, nausea, weakness, fatigue and loss of appetite. Numbness and tingling, muscle cramps, personality changes, seizures, arrhythmia and coronary spasms can also appear as symptoms of magnesium deficiency.

The Role Of Magnesium In Diabetes, Heart Disease And Cancer
As we already said, magnesium has a highly important role in the prevention of various ailments. For example, studies have shown that magnesium keeps our metabolism running properly and prevents diabetes, heart disease and even some types of cancer. Studies have also found that the higher the magnesium intake of a person, the lower the risk of diabetes goes. Higher magnesium intake is also associated with higher bone mineral density in both genders.

Magnesium can also reduce the risk of cancer, as one American study showed that higher magnesium intake means lower risk of colorectal tumors. The risk of the disease reduced by 13% per every 100 mg. of magnesium intake, while the risk of colorectal cancer was reduced by 12% at the same time.

Surprising Factors That Affect Your Magnesium Levels
The best way to get more magnesium in your body is through dietary sources. This means consuming leafy green vegetables and seaweed more often, as well as beans, nuts and seeds and avocados. Juicing is also a great way of getting more magnesium in your diet.

Sadly, most of the food grown today is lacking magnesium due to the lack of magnesium in the soil. A hundred years ago, we would have got 500 mg. of magnesium from an ordinary diet, but the levels have plummeted down to 200 in recent times. This is caused by the increased industrialization of the soil and the use of herbicides and pesticides such as glyphosate.

On the other hand, some foods and drinks can also reduce your magnesium absorption. For example, alcohol can interfere with proper vitamin D absorption which will affect your magnesium absorption as well. Consuming a lot of sugar can make your body excrete magnesium through the kidneys and result in a net loss of magnesium. Caffeine, diuretics and other medications, unhealthy digestive tract, menopause and other factors can also influence your magnesium levels.

Magnesium Must Stay In Balance With Calcium, Vitamin D and K2
If you think that taking a magnesium supplement can easily fix your magnesium deficiency, you’re wrong. In order to increase the mineral’s levels and fix the deficiency, you need to keep it in balance with calcium and vitamins D and K2, as all these nutrients work in synergy.

If your calcium levels are up for example, you may experience heart attack and even death. The healthy ratio between calcium and magnesium should be 1:1, but the modern American diet puts it to 3.5:1 on average. Too much calcium and less magnesium in your muscles can lead to painful muscle spasms.

The vitamin D and K2 levels should also be taken into consideration. Lack of balance between all these nutrients can lead to serious health problems and raise the risk of heart attack and stroke, which is exactly what you need to avoid. For best results, we suggest talking to your doctor who can tell you what your body needs.

Magnesium Supplements
Although the best way to raise your magnesium intake is through dietary sources, you can also stick to magnesium supplements in order to fix the deficiency. There are different types of magnesium supplements including magnesium chloride, magnesium oxide, magnesium glycinate, magnesium sulfate, magnesium carbonate, magnesium taurate, magnesium citrate and magnesium threonate. Every one of these supplements has a different function, so you should talk to a professional before deciding which one to get on your own.

7 Signs Of Hormonal Imbalance In Women

Most women are familiar with hormonal fluctuations at some point in their life. A rise or fall in the levels of hormones like estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone lead to imbalances and resulting symptoms. Persistent weight gain, a low sex drive, anxiety and irritation, fatigue, and digestive issues are some of the signs that may indicate a hormonal imbalance.

Hormones are chemical messengers that have an impact on almost all of our daily activities. Most people attribute acne breakouts and mood swings to hormones that are out of control. However, hormonal imbalances are a lot more than just tantrums thrown by a teenager or a sensitive mother-to-be. Most women face these 7 common signs of hormonal imbalance at some point in their lives.

1. Weight Gain
While weight gain could be a sign of unhealthy eating habits, persistent weight gain may also be an indication of hormonal imbalance. Such imbalance can be of different types:

- On an average, women gain about 2–4 pounds (1–2 kg), during menopause. However, some women are at a risk of reaching higher numbers.

- When the sex hormones are out of balance, women can add on the pounds and even face obesity.

- Insulin resistance – a condition in which the body cells stop responding to the hormone insulin – also causes weight gain in women, which is another indication of hormonal imbalance. This issue is evident in postmenopausal women.

2. Reduced Sex Drive
One of the most common signs of hormonal imbalance is a diminished interest in sexual activities or even a reduced sex drive. A drop in the estrogen levels in the body or premature ovarian failure (a condition in which the ovaries stop functioning before the age of 40) may cause this in women. Sometimes, even a minimal drop in testosterone levels, which women produce naturally, may result in sexual disinterest.

3. Fatigue
If you find yourself feeling tired most of the time, it could be due to imbalances of certain hormones.
  • A reduced estrogen level can cause headaches.
  • Progesterone, another hormone responsible for various bodily functions, may cause fatigue – too little of this hormone can make it hard to sleep while too much of it can cause tiredness.
  • An underproduction of thyroid hormones may lead to lower levels of energy, causing you to feel tired and weak. Fuzzy or unclear thinking is another symptom of hormonal imbalance, especially during the midlife. Stress, sleep deprivation, and an unhealthy diet can trigger distorted thoughts that can cause mental tiredness.
4. Anxiety And Depression
The reach of a hormone imbalance goes as far as your mood, causing anxiety, irritability, depression, and other mood disorders. This is especially likely in puberty, pregnancy, and menopause as these are the periods in life that cause a major variation in hormone levels.

Estrogen, for instance, is responsible for serotonin production – the chemical responsible for happiness and other positive moods. Many women experience mood swings and negative emotions like anxiety and irritation during their perimenopausal years (the period just before the occurrence of menopause) because of a decline in estrogen levels.

5. Poor Sleep Cycles
Not getting enough good-quality sleep? Your hormones might be at play. Many women experience insomnia, particularly during menopause, because of the decrease in the production of estrogen and progesterone in the body. Also, when you experience stress, the body produces more of the stress hormone cortisol. An overproduction of cortisol over a long period of time can disrupt normal sleep patterns. Combined with other hormonal imbalances, you can say goodbye to sleep!

6. Excessive Sweating
Sweating more than usual is, sometimes, a sign of hormonal imbalance. An overproduction of thyroid hormones, which causes an imbalance in metabolism, can cause the body’s internal temperature to increase and cause excessive sweating. During menopause, estrogen levels drop drastically and women experience symptoms like night sweat and hot flashes, which are associated with excessive sweating.

7. Digestive Issues
The female hormones estrogen and progesterone have an impact on the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Any imbalance in these hormones affects the digestive system. Sometimes, it speeds up the process, resulting in diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain. Other times, it can slow down the process and cause bloating and constipation.

Thyroid hormone levels also affect the proper functioning of the digestive system. In hypothyroidism (when thyroid levels are low), digestion slows down and the concentration of stomach acid and digestive enzymes may be reduced. These patterns have been reported during pre-menses, menses, and perimenopause in women.

If you have experienced one or more of these symptoms, know that a hormonal imbalance is likely the culprit. These hormonal changes can be caused due to the normal aging process or due to some underlying health conditions. So, to be on the safe side, discuss the symptoms with your doctor to know your treatment options.

If Magnesium Chloride Levels Are Very Low, These 7 Warning Signs Will Show You That

One of the most important minerals for our body is magnesium. We need it for a proper blood pressure, a healthy heart, processes of many vital nutrients, good neurological health etc.

Unfortunately, magnesium deficiency is very common. Its malabsorption can be caused by numerous health problems. You may have a diet rich in magnesium, but you’ll still be deficient. Your body needs to intake dietary magnesium.

Here are some of the most common symptoms you can notice if you’re deficient in magnesium:

1. Muscle Spasms
Magnesium deficiency is considered to be among the most common problems that can cause muscle spasms although they can be triggered by other health problems, too. In case you have too many muscle spasms, try to take a magnesium supplement like magnesium glycinate. It is bio-available and it should improve the spasms. Try to consume foods that contain magnesium: avocados, dark chocolate, bananas, spinach, pumpkin seeds, etc.

2. Dizziness
Vertigo can be caused by a magnesium deficiency. Magnesium is very important for the health of our brain as well as our ears.

3. Noise Sensitivity
Sensitivity to noise can be caused by magnesium deficiency, too. Consume more dark chocolate or cashews and see if it gets better. If you notice a difference, then start taking some magnesium supplements.

4. Chronic Fatigue
We have all felt tired, but chronic fatigue can be caused by a magnesium deficiency. It is very important about the energy distribution throughout our body.

5. Panic Attacks, Confusion and Anxiety
Magnesium deficiency can cause neurological distress. In order to absorb magnesium well, you need calcium, so make sure you intake it, too. Vitamins K and D are also necessary. The best supplements that you can take and are bio-available are calcium citrate tablets.

6. Problems With The Sleep
Co-Q-10 needs magnesium in order to be built well. It’s a brain chemical and the co-enzyme for melatonin. It helps us sleep well. Our sleep cycle becomes regulated with the help of these chemicals. We need to intake enough magnesium in order to have a healthy sleep. Try to intake more magnesium in case you’ve noticed that you aren’t sleeping well lately.

7. High Blood Pressure
Calcium and magnesium are actually calming minerals. Magnesium deficiency can cause problems with your blood pressure. If your blood pressure is high, start taking magnesium supplements for a while to see how everything goes.

Consume foods rich in magnesium, but also try taking oral supplements. Another great way to increase your magnesium levels is with the help of Epsom salt baths. Epsom salt actually contains magnesium sulfate. These baths are abundant in magnesium and when we bathe in them, we start absorbing the magnesium through our skin.

This is even considered to be a better way to increase your levels of magnesium than supplementing. You just need to be careful! In case you don’t tolerate sulfur, avoid these Epsom salt baths as they can cause health issues!

12 Ways Your Body Tries To Tell You That Your Liver Is Being Damaged

The largest solid organ, which is located in the right upper quadrant of your abdomen and partly protected by the ribs is the liver. It carries out important functions and we cannot live without it. Therefore, knowing the early signs of liver damage is crucial for keeping it healthy and running.

12 Signs of Liver Damage

1. Unexplained Fatigue
This is the most evident sign that your damage is damaged. If you feel that you constantly need rest, it means that there are toxins in your body and the liver is unable to eliminate them.

2. Loss of Appetite
When the food isn’t digested properly and there isn’t enough bile, you may experience loss of appetite. Moreover, you may also deal with extreme weight loss.

3. Upset Stomach
Some of the most common symptoms of liver damage are nausea and vomiting. These symptoms can occur as a result of some other health conditions, including migraines, motion sickness, vertigo, early pregnancy, and food poisoning. However, if these symptoms persist over a prolonged period of time, it means that the liver is damaged and it is unable to eliminate toxins.

4. Digestion Issues
The liver a crucial organ in the digestion process because it produces bile. Therefore, when the liver is damaged, it may lead to indigestion, diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, and fatty food intolerance.

5. Urine Color Changes
When the levels of bilirubin increase, they may cause some changes in the color of your urine. For instance, the urine may appear orange, brown, or amber. The damaged liver cannot eliminate the excess bilirubin levels, so they are eliminated through the kidneys. As a result, changes in the urine color occur.

6. Stool Color Changes
Bile deficiency leads to stool color changes. Thus, if the stool is clay colored, pale yellow or gray for a longer period of time, it is a clear sign of liver damage.

7. Jaundice
This is a medical condition when the color of the eyes, fingertips, tongue and skin becomes yellow. This is also a result of increased bilirubin levels. Additionally, this condition can indicate some issues with the gallbladder or pancreas.

8. Abdominal Changes
Any cramping or pain in the lower part of your abdomen and bloating can indicate liver damage. Moreover, liver damage can cause portal hypertension.

9. Fluid Retention
Although the fluid retention can be a clear sign of kidney issues, lymphatic disease, heart failure, and hormonal imbalance, it may also be a sign of liver damage.

10. Itchy Skin
Liver damage makes the skin more sensitive. Therefore, you can experience itching, bruises, and visible veins if your liver is damaged.

11. Abdominal Pain
Experiencing a pain in the abdomen, which doesn’t go away may indicate that the liver is damaged.

12. Intestinal Bleeding
If you notice intestinal bleeding, it is usually related to liver damage.

7. Milk massage
Massaging milk into the skin is also suggested by Rapid Home Remedies. The milk is supposed to tighten and tone the skin around the chin area. Massaging it in several times a day is recommended.

No one likes a double chin, and most people don’t have the money for plastic surgery. These simple remedies may provide the solution you want without the risks or expense. Maybe genetics can be fought after all.

Each Finger Is Connected With Two Organs, This Japanese Healing Method can Provide Fast Pain Relief

Throughout centuries, the science of medicine has helped us learn how to formulate new medicine and medical technology against disease and ailments. Running parallel to allopathy are alternate remedies, some of which have withstood the test of time.

Acupressure and acupuncture are two such practices which have always shown to be effective in treating pain and inflammation. Similarly, if you have never heard of Jin Shin Jyutsu, then here is a helpful article that will show you the main techniques of this age-old Japanese healing technique that goes way back centuries. The great thing is that you can do it anywhere and it only takes 5 minutes.

What is Jin Shin Jyutsu?
Jin Shin Jyutsu is a Japanese medical art of healing that seeks to balance the energy in the body, mind, and spirit through the use of pressure points and our hands. Like most acupressure techniques, the philosophy behind it is to relieve the negative pressure and build up of blocked meridians and pathways of the body so that energy can flow freely and in perfect emotional balance.

Stimulation of finger points
In Jin Shin Jyutsu, you need to stimulate certain points on the fingers which calm you and are also good for stress relief. The healing technique believes that our fingers are linked to certain organs in the body by stimulating these points; it can improve both emotional and physical health. The technique is beneficial in many health ailments, stress, and tension.

You can do it in five minutes
When you want to focus on a particular organ, you have to take the corresponding finger and hold it tightly for 3 to 5 minutes. While doing so breathe deeply and then massage all fingers on your hands for 3 minutes. Now take a look at each finger that corresponds to an organ.

Thumb
The thumb is linked to the stomach and spleenwort. It is also linked to the emotions of depression and anxiety. It also treats common ailments like nervousness, headaches, stomach pain and skin problems. By holding the thumb, it will harmonize the energy of your stomach and spleen and remedy various problems arising out of the misbalance of energy in these two organs. It can provide relief from stomach upsets exhaustion and nervousness.

Index finger
The index finger is linked to the kidneys and urinary bladder and can help prevent urinary problems and minor kidney ailments. It is also associated with the misbalance of emotions that cause confusion and disappointment. It can help provide relief from common ailments like digestion problems, back pain, toothache, and muscle pain and inflammation.

Middle finger:
The middle finger is linked to the organs the liver and yolky bitter. It is also related to the misbalance of rage, anger, indetermination, and irritability. Pressing this point can also provide relief in ailments like migraine, poor circulation, menstruation pain, frontal headaches, and tiredness.

Ring finger
The ring finger is associated with the large intestine and the lungs. It is also linked to the emotions of negativity, fear, and sadness. It also provides relief from issues of digestion, asthma, skin disease and respiratory problems.

Pinkie finger
The pinkie finger is linked to the small intestines and the heart. It is also associated with the emotions of nervousness, lack of self-esteem and confidence. It also provides relief from common problems of the throat such as a sore throat, pain, and inflammation. It also helps manage heart disease and bone tissue.

Study proved that Jin Shin Jyutsu provided relief to cancer patients
By reading this one might wonder if this Japanese healing technique actually works or not. Some may write it off as hocus pocus. Or even bogus but Jin Shin Jyutsu actually works and this was proved by a study in 2012 at the Markley Cancer Center Research Day as proving stress relief and improvement in health in no less than cancer patients.

Positive results in all 159 patients
The study was carried by Jin Shin Jyutsu integrative practitioner Jennifer Bradley who practices at Markey. The study involved 159 cancer patients who showed signs of improvement from the side effects of cancer treatment after every session. She followed the technique and its philosophy with positive results.

Pain stress and nausea decreased
After every session, Bradley asked her patients to make an assessment of their symptoms of nausea, stress, and pain and rate it on a scale of 1-10. 0 represented no symptoms. The study observed that in every session, patients showed remarkable improvement in all areas of pain stress and nausea from the very first visit and all other sessions thereafter. On average, the mean decrease was found to be 3 points for pain and 2 points for stress and nausea.

Encouraging results for further study
Bradley remarked that she was extremely encouraged and pleased to see the incredible improvements that patients exhibited in the areas of discomfort regardless of age, sex, and extent of diagnosis. “It is encouraging to note that Jin Shin Jyutsu made improvements in these areas without adding additional unwanted effects that so often occur with medication interventions.”

In every session, patients receive light touches on 52 energy points that are referred to as energy locks including the fingers, toes, and midpoints of upper arms, calves, lower legs. The process was done over the clothing of the patients and none needed to remove any clothing at all.

The results improved in the treatment room
Every session was performed at the Jin Shin Jyutsu room of the Chemotherapy outpatient clinic in the hospital. The study also observed how the highest results and best improvement were observed in the treatment room where there were longer sessions. The results encouraged Bradley who will now conduct further research with more parameters involved such as location and duration of services. Patient’s records will also be accessed to evaluate the changes in the medication received for cancer and the management of pain, stress, and nausea.

Helpful for improving quality of life for cancer patients
According to Bradley “The American Cancer Society has noted that quality of life is an issue for all cancer patients; those undergoing treatment, late stage patients, and cancer survivors, there is a need for additional research to develop evidence-based interventions that have a positive impact on the quality of life for all of these individuals without adding to their burden. “

She feels that Jin Shin Jyutsu shows huge promise in the area of pain and side effects management for cancer patients so that their health improves as well as their emotional well-being.
